The summer often brings unpredictable weather along the MS Gulf Coast. As a family photographer, it can be tricky to navigate. But, if there is one thing I have learned, it’s that beauty can be seen anywhere as long as our eyes are open to the opportunity. Sometimes that looks like a beautiful sunset. Other times it looks like letting go of expectations and just allowing yourself to be present. This momma did just that, and it made for the most beautiful motherhood beach session with her two babies.
Embrace the Weather
Mom contacted me last minute about a beach session while they were visiting the Coast. I was so thankful I could work them in but we had just one night to work with. We pulled outfits for the three of them from the studio wardrobe collection and crossed our fingers the weather would be on our side! What I thought would be a slightly overcast evening, turned into an evening with rolling, thick fog. Actually, I think mist would be more of an accurate description as the fog was tangible. So much so, that about halfway into our session, their hair was damp.
Instead of dwelling on the less-than-ideal weather, they all embraced it. The kids didn’t mind it one bit. In fact, I think it added to their beach session, and they had so much fun. We could have chosen to not even venture to the beach, but then the kids wouldn’t have had the chance to let the waves chase their little sand-dusted toes or make footprints in the sand with Mom. Sure, we got a little messy, and it was a little chaotic. However, I also saw so many beautiful moments of a momma enjoying her sweet babies and their enthusiasm for finally being at the beach. I’d say it was worth it!
