As a Bay St. Louis MS family photographer, the beach is one of my favorite locations for sessions. I’ll always love the timeless feel the studio provides, and it will always have a permanent place in my heart. However, there’s something extra special about being on the beach at sunset with an ocean breeze. When the light starts to soften, it’s really so magical, and it’s something everyone, regardless of age, can enjoy!

Bay St. Louis Beach – Space to Roam

A beach session can also provide the perfect environment for busy toddlers to wander. In typical two-year-old fashion, this little one was on the move and only wanted to explore the beach. We let her lead the adventure, sandy toes and all. The end result is a beautiful mix of traditional family portraits and in-between moments filled with their family’s memories. 

Neutral Backdrop

When it comes to printing portraits from your family session, location and colors in the environment can be really important. Therefore, it’s something we take into consideration when planning for your session and choosing a location. 

The beach is a location that works for almost everyone. Even with the greenery along the dunes and colorful sunsets, it’s fairly neutral and allows you the opportunity to personalize it with your wardrobe choices. 

For this session, we chose neutrals for mom and dad and let their baby girl to be the center of focus. She wore a blush pink, linen dress from the LSP Studio Wardrobe with the sweetest button details on the back and ruffle sleeves. I scooped it up at my favorite local children’s boutique, Violet Bambina. It’s one of my favorites for toddlers, and she looked so pretty with her curly blonde hair and pigtails! 

Time to Connect

As a photographer (and mom), I know a family session will always be so much more than pretty light and outfits. Those things are important and allow us to feel like our best selves in front of the camera. However, the true allure of a beach session for me is the unique opportunity to be present with the ones we love. 

Choosing a beach session can be a beautiful way to make time for play outside of our busy everyday lives and encourage us to slow down and really think about the memories we are making…even those as small as shell collecting. Making this experience enjoyable for your entire family is something I’ll always prioritize.
