One of my very favorite things about being a Hattiesburg NB photographer is watching the babies who visited my studio as newborns become big brothers and sisters! There is something so special about seeing these little ones take on their new roles and love on their little siblings.

As moms, we tend to worry about how we’ll ever love another baby the same as our first. But the truth is, our hearts expand more than enough to love all of our babies, and nothing can quite prepare you for seeing your babies together.

Big brother, Barrett, was in my studio for his newborn session a few years ago. Now, he’s a bubbly toddler on the move. I loved seeing the boys together and all of their similarities and differences. I’ve even added a sweet side-by-side of Baker and Barrett at the bottom of the post. Let me know in the comments if you agree that they look so similar.

Mom was a little nervous about how things would go in the studio. It’s a valid concern but one that I can assure you I am prepared for! Years as a newborn and family photographer and having three boys of my own has prepared me for just about anything. Of course, any session with little ones calls for careful planning, a little bit of a “go-with-the-flow” attitude, and a splash of patience! 

Barrett stepped right up to the job and was SO sweet with his new baby brother. He even came up with a few of his own poses, like sticking his little foot off to the side all by himself. 

A Moment for Dad

As any little guy would, there came a time when big brother was over it…that is until Dad stepped in front of the camera. Barrett snuck back in by hugging Dad from behind, and it’s by far one of my favorite images from their newborn session.

I know mommas get a lot of screen time over here on the blog and on my Instagram. This is because I truly believe we aren’t in enough photos with our babies. However, that definitely doesn’t mean we leave Daddy out of your sessions. We love you too dads. Especially when you patiently juggle two babies in your arms and still look at them with nothing but adoring love! 

Darling Baker, you were the snuggliest of newborns, sleeping like a pro throughout your entire session. The smirk in the photo with the crocheted bear might be a new favorite as well. Baker and Barrett, I can’t wait to see all of the adventures you have together!
